Phenomenally small data transfer speeds of 4.5 kbps, or kilobytes per second, as opposed to 14400, 28800, and eventually 56,000 kbps (“56k internet”) of home internet modems to come out in the 90s!
Nope, the baudrate is in kiloBITS per seconds, you have to divide by 8 to get the kiloBYTES.
Also the 56k Baud modems very rarely hit that speed; most likely you got 33.6 or 28.8
