Caves of Qud is great because you can create an absolute badass of a character like "teleporting psychic gunslinger" and within a couple hours they're riddled with fungal infections and being eaten by crabs at the bottom of a well

It's a wonderful loop of first figuring out something incredibly powerful and overpowered, and then the game kicking your teeth in anyway, only for you to figure out something even more busted. It keeps happening!
I've never been more terrified of a little blob of pixels! Being chased by a Legendary crab is one of the most intense things I've ever experienced in a game.
Def did runs for nearly a good hundred hours until 1.0 and then I broke and did story mode. It def is good for being able to make it back to a spot once you understand what's being challenged, but do not send yourself into The Suffering for the sake of The Roguelike
It is a Hard Game with a lot of random stuff to kill you. I vividly remember being overrun by an army of crabs, unaware of the danger until I couldn’t move anymore 🫠 (the individual crabs were not that dangerous so i ignored them until I got swarmed)
