More than half of STEM degrees awarded by U.S. universities go to international students, and about half of applicants for H-1B temporary work visas have a Masters degree or above from a U.S. university.

H1b steals talent from developing nations, reprioritizes domestic education to focus on international students, raises tuition, and displaces US workers from middle-class jobs, and also degrades biz ethics due to the contractor's visa held by 3rd party which suppresses whistle blowers. Response?

Yes, it's a really good deal when you don't have to invest domestically to produce that level of talent, which is why we are where we are at right now.

I used to managed postdoc education at a research hospital. Our director was from India and he said it is becoming a scandal over there. They invest in world class schools, train some of the best scientists and clinicians, and they stay in the US, EU, etc. The poor are subsidizing the rich

Every year, I see the percentage of Americans at my tech employer shrink in favor of H1b contractors working as hourly employees contracted on broad generic projects. They pay 3/4 onshore and shut out US workers. These are 100k jobs, and our gov is complicit and shift focus for corps.

Different visas are different. I work in biomedical science, despite my history degrees, and different programs have different pluses and minuses
