In a letter filed today, DOJ has told SCOTUS that it is withdrawing its amicus brief in the Louisiana racial gerrymandering case and no longer wishes to participate in oral argument.

SCOTUS is a problem, we should stop dark money. Biden appointed over 200 new SCOTUS towards the end of his term. American Legislative Exchange Council is a good place to look for who is funding who. A.L.E.C. Search for their website.
For context, this was a racial gerrymandering case brought & won at the trial court level by *white* voters challenging a Black district creating to remedy Voting Rights Act violations. Black voters & the state are seeking to reverse that decision at SCOTUS in a somewhat unusual alignment.
Biden’s DOJ started it because it’s a racist gerrymander. trump DOJ wants the racist gerrymandering to remain because it always benefits republicans to deny black and brown ppl the right to vote.
A bad ruling in the trial court to block the creation of the voting district. Equally bad decision by the DOJ not to try the case at the Federal level as they should defend the 14th Amendment, Civil and Voting Rights Act. The will of the state of Louisiana and people ignored. But, it's Trump's DOJ.
It’s a bit confusing because there are two cases. The original VRA case, which resulted in a new Black district. And a second case, by white voters, challenging that new district. More in this thread 🧵
