The script of this manuscript is Gothic textualis "rotunda" or southern textualis, typically used as the formal bookhand in Italy and the Iberian peninsula in the later Middle Ages. Here's the opening of the Inferno, p. 1, for a closer look at the script.

Rotunda or southern textualis obeys the same rules of "biting" or fusion as northern textualis, in which opposing curves overlap, as you can see here in "del" in the first line and "per" in the second. But the strokes tend to be a lot more rounded than in the very angular northern Gothic script.

O, for instance, is really made of two curves, rather than a whole series of straight and diagonal lines as in the northern variety. Compare the construction of d, e, and o in this German manuscript from the same century.

Peter Damian, btw, died on this day in 1072, but his feast is currently on Feb. 21, formerly Feb. 23, per the Roman Martyrology. I assume it's transferred because the 22nd is the feast of the Chair of St. Peter.
