I have no idea what happened to my Discover algo but it, for no discernible reason, is now 60% very specific fetish content I have never in my life interacted with.

Mines usually pretty good, but there’s definitely days where it’s like “I see you liked this thing, how would you like it’s way more extreme fourth cousin twice removed”
I get inexplicible images from people who look for fungus in the woods, the algo just occasionally has a fit and decides you need to be part of a niche subculture, like it or not.
I've heard the Discover algo references what your mutuals are liking and reblogging. Expecting interest overlap. Which works, to an extent. Until you get a Like Spree they weren't reblogging so it Left Fields you.
I swear this kind of thing has happened to nearly every bsky user I know. I'm convinced there's some kind of 'oops all fetish content' algorithm that jumps user to user
