May future generations remember this as a day when the USA turned away from division and hatred and corruption and toward an inclusive, democratic future.

Yes, there's there's definitely going to a couple be incidents of political violence in the short term. But in the long term, assuming Harris wins, our country will definitely heal. It's a one step back, five steps forward sort of thing.
I agree any polical violence will be short-lived. But all the Trump supporters aren't going to fade away (some will). SCOTUS and the other courts that have been stacked are still there. Musk and his billions will continue to poison the well. I'm not a doomer, just not sanguine.
As a believer in the multi-world interpretation of quantum mechanics, you think that there's roughly half of worlds in which this happens and roughly half of worlds in which the opposite happens, don't you? Now it's just a matter of navigating to the right branch of the multiverse. 😉
As Ellen Langer may prescribe, this is a time to be “mindful”, not stress, and accept any outcome as potentially beneficial in its own way. Don’t focus so much on “making the right decision” but “make the decision right”. US people will be making a decision. Whatever it will be, let’s make it right.
I truly love, and appreciate, your optimism Dr. Carroll. You, personally, bring so much value to my life through your podcasts, books, etc. My generation remembered similar days of the past generations but we have ended up right here again. What goes around comes around. Always orbiting, you know!
