The author/book challenge seems to be the most difficult for my students as they have yet to believe in an actual (tangible) book as intended, read from to back.
Classic responses are "what are you supposed to do while reading it?" and "where do they go if you/win finish?"
Also I work at a high school with IEPs for behavioral issues (less intellectual issues). 4 of my kiddos are black and always thank me for how much I have helped. My response is always “you know how to do it and you are good at it, I’m just reminding you of that and encouraging you to keep going”
My mom was a supporter of both Barbara Jordan and Shirley Chisholm in the 1960's, also a founding supporter of Planned Parenthood, supporting them until she passed away at age 83. She signed me to be a Head Start volunteer when I was in the 6th grade just after the program start. Mom taught me #BLM

I just learned that we owe the entire existence of blood banks to a Black man Charles Drew who figured out how to separate plasma and freeze it separately. And he headed the American Red Cross blood bank!
