Tbh I really think this is just the effects of not having extensive guards in place for sex abusers that would flock to these things and masquerade as kids.

Funny I went on a Poppy's playtime lore deep dive which led me to an old school looking forum site, as I read down I realized if that was like elementary, middle, and high schoolers mostly talking in the form

My middle schoolers forcefully carve out their own spaces in places like DeviantArt judiciously blocking creepy people. But if kids don't have media literacy skills they'll sink there. The kids who are like we were find their corners. Pony Town is a lot like club penguin was.

1/ Yanno what's interesting? I saw a video on the architectural language of Cyberpunk, and why it was so dystopian and two things stood out:

1. The city is deliberately labyrinthian to keep you locked in and unable to escape.

2. The absolute lack of playgrounds or kids' spaces.

2/ Much like how the digital dystopian is crafted. It's a place you can't escape from, and the lack of kids' safe spaces, safe from the constant marketing machine, is really just a sign of an utter lack of hope. There's no bother teaching kids to be better people because there's no better future.
