My initial theory was that this happens because I’m duplicating a widget into the viewport that’s also being rendered in world space. I even recorded a video showing that disabling the world-space interface while keeping the viewport version fixes everything.

But, alas, the cursor didn’t get captured properly, and there are a few flickering frames in the video (thanks to ShadowPlay recording quirks on a laptop running Unreal).

The quick-and-dirty fix? Just hide the world-space interface when the hive is open!

The "proper" alternative would’ve been to cleanly separate the hive logic from the interface and create a dedicated viewport instance to display the hive’s state. But since parts of the code are hastily cobbled together, I’ll postpone that refactor until it’s actually needed.

Fun side note: While fixing this bug, I uncovered two more!

Turns out, I wasn’t resetting the Breed button state in the hive UI after crossbreeding. This led to trying to breed empty slots, which somehow resulted in sterile and lazy bees being "crossbred"

Even the sterile bee produced offspring because I forgot to add a check for having at least one valid bee post-breeding. All three bugs are now squashed!

Today, I also experimented with AI-generated translations of a page description to test readability. I tested the waters with Simplified Chinese. Ran it through Greek, Dutch, and Japanese. Feedback: Greek and Dutch were deemed "readable," Japanese got a "meh"
