Oooh, I see. What plan can there be unless we acknowledge that the US is no longer a safe country. We are unable, by international law & agreement w the US, that we can't accept refugees from the US. I support changing it too but we can ask that they be sent here instead of Ukraine or even let them get to Ukraine and then work with the Europeans to bring them back out.

Again, we can't really just do that without breaking our current agreements (which I'm not opposed to), but I don't think we should limit it to Ukrainian refugees only. We need to be pushing to change this agreement fully. I would imagine Palestinians refugees & others are also at risk.

I’m not opposed to simply ending it I’m just opposed to sending children into an active combat zone. If we have to break agreements to prevent that then so be it, but I don’t think we do.

The safe third country agreement says that people have to file their claim in the first safe country they arrive in, it doesn’t prevent us from offering an invitation to whoever we want.

I believe it does prevent them from filing from a safe country. If they are already in a "safe" country, they can't file. That being said, we absolutely can put out an open invitation to whomever we want, yes. But, as our immigration laws stand now, refugees in the US can't claim refugee status here

I'm not for sending anyone into a combat zone if they don't want to be there, and I'm happy to break agreements. I'm simply stating what the reality is right now. And I doubt any Canadian politician right now is willing to make this change as we already have ppl crying about immigrants.
