I'd like to know if the pesticide levels are the same in Canada and elsewhere (obv not the EU which has rigorous restrictions). That would be yet another good reason to buy anything but u.s. produce.

Weird how "achemistinlangley" consistently takes the side of large corporations who either oppose regulation, or don't want to spend money to reduce pesticide levels in their produce. 🤔
Because I'm not a scientist, and worked in media (or media adjacent) long enough to know news orgs often don't know what they're talking about when parsing info/reporting on scientific studies, I go with fewer unnecessary chemicals as possible. Tastes better anyway.
