i used mac for a while in the mid 2010s and I never used finder tabs. i switched back to windows in like 2020. only last year when i upgraded to windows 11 did i start using tabs in file explorer, changed the game tbh. Windows 11 explorer SUCKS because its slow but the tabs implementation is great.
Yes but mostly for keeping a same "context" inside the file manager or just moving files (but in that case I prefer a split in dolphin). Also having multiple windows open makes me feel lost and forget what I was doing 😅
while KDE's handling of multiple windows of the same program is actually good vs windows or god forbid mac, it's far more convenient to be able to see the location of tabs at all times, vs hover delay & shifting previews, or masochism respectively
only major downside is they pile up when you forget
