Beginning to get the idea that some dudes would rather rule over a shattered economy than let democracy and some degree of regulation deny them a scrap of profit.

we focus a lot on the psuedo-religious cult lifestyle in all this but I think even more alien is that so many of these people are raised with the concept of zero-sum game being part of every aspect of their lives
