The pass to the wing immediately after gaining the blue line works less than 50% of the time. And that seems to be the entry strategy of choice.

Broadly, gaining the zone and then playing it back to the point to gain time to set up is fine. It's what most power plays do.
But the Leafs are so unthreatening in terms of a play down low that PKers just pressure them up high and the puck comes out.
