I think a lot of it comes from how artists feel the need to streamline and sanitize their accounts to be more "marketable", gain popularity and not be seen as "cringe"

I think 2025 and beyond should be where we as a community start embracing and sharing OCs more

from my experience as both a creator and appreciator of OCs, exposure and information are KEY to getting invested in ocs. the first time you post them, people don't usually care but then over time they get familiar and sometimes they become fans

All I have ever encountered is negativity where OCs are concerned. It has been like "That is such a Mary Sue!" Then I don't want to make up stories with that character anymore because ppl just find it cringey. And they don't like my Mary Sues around their Canon stuff.

YES !!!! people get curious when they see the same character in different situations! it doesn't even have to be super deep, just a lil funny scene can intrigue people! from my experience, being self indulgent is good!
