there was this one guy that asked candidates for his company to explain their home setup, if they just say "i have a router that works" then it's a no hire lol
UwU en verdad no hay muchos cables por casa! He estado trabajando para que no se note, los que más se ven son los que van a su habitación aaaa (yo me rendí y no tengo conexión por cable a la mía)
ISP also refuses to hand over the keys to enable offloading of PPPoE through hardware so even if I had the slim chance of finding a fast enough XGS-PON ONT that didn’t break the bank I’d have to deal with this too so fuck it, double NAT time
Good thing is that I can replace my secondary ISP’s router with a Ubiquiti loco because it uses DHCP and works decently well with gigabit fiber connections (they use normal GPON)
I have a similar situation with our ISP. They absolutely will not permit me to provide my own ONT. I have to use theirs. So the WAN has to become 10g-e just so that it can be turned back into fiber again on the local network. Waste of power.
😭😭😭 I kinda get why they would do that in my case (I’m paying less than $30 per month for 10 gigabit, so support from them is just pretty much borderline non existent) but there aren’t many other options in the market and it sucks… (the first router I got installed did all the PPPoE stuff through
The modular SFP+ ONT-on-a-module and, welp, it could work if you inserted it elsewhere). There were exploits available to get the info from the router itself too, but even then… god, it’s too expensive. And the latest router they gave me sucks, they regularly reset it so my ports break all the time

I’ve got 10 gigabit and 1 gigabit fiber from different ISPs at home, I’d have 25 gig if I could
FUCKING PPPoE
