I love reading blogs but re-reading (or for some older posts, reading for the first time) the False Machine blog back when it was published as a big, fat print book, was an amazing experience

"Experience" is the crux for me. I feel (incorrectly) that reading blogs is time I could be "doing something productive". Which is unlike the time I spend away from the labour-extractor machine, waiting for appointments or buses or whatnot, and crave a print book.

Also blog posts tend to get lost in the either more than stuff on my shelf. Just the way I’m wired, but I can remember the source better (and return to it) when it’s something I’ve had in my hands and read on thinly sliced wood. Maybe I’m just an old person tho

100%. I think there is a study that shows that memory recall from physical paper is better than that of screens.

Maybe "Comparing Comprehension of a Long Text Read in Print Book and on Kindle" (Mangen, 2019)? Recall of events was the same, but the chronology was more accurate for printed media.
