With the recent surge of artists on this platform it would be great to see this implemented as a marketplace. Artists all over the platform could put their work up and the platform could maintain it and take a cut. This way everyone gets options and artists get a wider reach with less overhead.

We will begin developing a subscription model for features like higher quality video or profile customizations like colors and avatar frames.
Bluesky will always be free to use — we believe that information and conversation should be easily accessible. (We won’t uprank paid accounts.)

it would just be another site taking another %
I don't know how many would take it
And without the 'we are going to take your art' like on TwitX.
part of me feels like “patreon on atproto” would be cool but i guess it would be hard to implement “subscriber-only posts” when all posts have to be public (?)
There's a lot of those tiny artifacts (little miscoloured pixels near the line work)
and I see them on almost every picture here
Do You see these little weird artifacts around the line work?
Almost like TV static
that way i can easily find artists i like and even better possibly find ones i can afford to!
There would need to be stringent vetting and oversight though. As to avoid it being enshittified similar to etsy: Where you have hand sewn film quality costumes next to people selling overstock shein clothing.
It would protect consummers with rules and gives artists an in app business opportunity
Not sure what the advantage would be apart from one less website to go to.
It was actually a nice concept
-as an artist myself. This wouldn't be bad as long as it won't be shoved to people who really don't buy art :>
When you allow in app purchases, artists become way more focused on advertising and dependent on the site.
Also they would get flood of ppl reselling junk.
The best option, I think is to use what's already here. Just create a tag that allows artists open to commissions to be found. Or who have a shop etc.
You can also use Skyfollower Bridge to follow most of the people you followed on Twitter.

1. Artists marketing to artists
2. Pay to be in the front
So discoverability might be driven by convenience. That can be tricky. So idk
If you want to support an artist on bsky financially, head to their ko-fi or patreom, and book a job, join the sub, or flat out donate to them.
We HAVE marketplaces. We need YOU to go to them and spend money.
More marketplaces doesn't solve anything when people aren't spending
Would love to see more ideas with BlueSky being collaborative with users to benefit both the company & community
