But Dems literally said Trump’s a fascist, democracy is at stake, SocSec and Medicare is at risk, and tariffs will drive prices up as well. People either didn’t see the message or dismissed it as hyperbole. What should be done differently?

Th media dismissed it as hyperbole. The broad left needs to drown out, or at least be on equal footing, with the Establishment Media. They are not our friends, or even our allies in the fight against lies and disinformation.

Exactly. The average American would be shocked if Joe Biden invited a candidate for the American Nazi Party to participate in drafting legislation.

So when Biden asked Trump to weigh in it implicitly said that Biden thought Trump is not really a fascist.

an onslaught of ideas, framed in ways that grab attention, is way more persuasive than a slogan. the right didn't persuade people with slogans, but with an avalanche of words! they repeat a lot of the same themes but they are constantly discussing and reworking them across countless media channels

Yes- Trump ad-libbed endlessly at his rallies, said lot of dumb stuff even his fans were confused about. But he got to see which lines get the biggest cheers which gave him feedback on what to emphasize the next time. It helped of course that he taught his supporters not to care what was true.

Ture, though sometimes they do slip into powerful sloganeering that permeates the discourse. The key insight though is that they are not wedded to single lines cooked up by pollsters at the outset. "repeal and replace" was powerful "cant impeach a former president" was too.

It’s because the right uses hyperbole in their messaging. The argument “a judge shouldn’t get to boss the president!” is not restrained. This is exactly why it works. It gets attention. Dems don’t need to match their level of crazy but could learn how to match the drama.
