Even the most generic, donor approved liberal agenda is way better and more popular than what the GOP offers but people rarely seem to be voting on actual policies.
Nobody is organizing them. They get 1000X more phony solicitations for donations than invitations from someone they know to attend any kind of community event where politics is discussed
Not going to mention names because controversy/distraction but I understand that the GOP/Right spent decades cultivating a media ecosystem to mainstream their assertions, and every time people in the DEM/Left tried to undertake that work, they got kneecapped or ignored by party leaders/donors.
I agree, but I don't think that's the primary issue. The primary issue in my view is it takes long years of practice and commitment, which for various reasons the dominant people in what we'll call the Democratic Party orbit didn't think they needed to do, or resisted because conflict of interest.
Also, they probably just misunderstood the US major media as their ecosystem, thereby falling into the trap and allowing themselves to be defined by the illiberal Right
Unfortunately also some of the largest donors are not writing big checks to Democrats because their goal is to elect Democrats
AIPAC spent $14.5 M on one congressional primary race to support a Democrat who’d keep quiet about war crimes. They are absolutely happy that the party lost its majority

It can’t be fixed just by “learning how to do messaging”
The problem is endemic opposition to fighting for any major change that large dollar donors don’t want
