Not sure that's fair. The California Dems that came of age in the '70s and '80s -- Jerry Brown, Dianne Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi -- were giants. They dominated state politics for 40 years and left little room for anyone else. Gavin was the rising mediocrity when they faded away.

Agreed. But one thing that’s lacking in them is that aren’t good at developing heirs to their legacy and retiring once they reach their mid - late 70s. Too many of them are more concerned with holding on to power instead of creating a new generation of Democrats.

It seems as if Schumer and Jeffries are handpicked leaders who never did anything impressive to earn their positions. Gingrich is terrible bc I could point to how he led the 1994 GOP revolution, changed how the party operated.
