It is weird that this would be anyone’s priority instead of health care for all, lower cost post secondary education, and good public education. But yeah 24 hr Walmart winning… I guess
The Democrats are not slightly lesser evil there is a huge difference. The Trump and the GOP administration is explicitly fascist. That is not even the same ball park. The worst Dems are compromised neo-liberal corporatists. But I would take the worst of them any day over Trump and the GOP.
I would concede that most leaders in the Democratic Party don’t seem to have adjusted to the new reality and how to fight the GOP. They should be learning from Brazil and Poland other countries who have pushed back against authoritarianism.
I have read history and political science extensively. While Noam Chomsky and others may take that view I see deep flaws in their thinking and logical leaps. Hard to articulate on BlueSky but I really don’t see Democrats even Joe Manchin as near fascist.
Yes Dems are further right than many European centre right parties but they are more like conservative parties in Europe. That said Citizens United has done awful damage to the body politic.
Those 99¢ stores are often pricier per count/volume/weight than other retailers and typically exploit overseas workers—probably a byproduct of the bipartisan NAFTA (thanks Bill Clinton).
Cheap gas means we’re still overproducing fossil fuels instead of switching to renewable energy sources.
Nah, it goes back even further than the Pandemic, but republicans are still largely to blame, George W Bush and congress cutting taxes and deregulating banks led to the 2008 financial crisis, and things have gone down hill since then.
The pandemic was always going to cause an economic restart regardless of who was in office. It was a global-scale meltdown event. Not to defend Trump...but that's just a fact.
NOW...letting 1 million people die? That's a different story entirely.
Exactly. It's not like Biden did a status job himself. Also 24/7 shopping is convenient AF but might not actually be the best thing for society (or those that have to work overnight)
Biden was able to build things back...which Trump wouldn't have been able to do...but if Clinton had been in office when the pandemic hit...the economy still would have tanked.
It tanked world wide. No way we were going to doge it. The supply chain got fucked.
Biden forced CDC guidelines to change in direct opposition to medical evidence to appease billionaires, at the cost of untold at risk lives. He declared the pandemic over based on politics, not science, and to this day it still runs rampant and mutates freely thanks to his mishandling
The orange worm totally botched the response at every step of the way, causing a far worse outcome for the entire world. Must be nice in bizzaro world where he has no responsibility for his actions!
The stimulus payments were absolutely necessary and the correct thing to do. Biden extending them was a big part of building things back. They provided some small security to scared people.
Biden built it back...but had a Dem been in office when it hit, the economy would have still gone down.
He was an epic fail of a leader but there certainly were plenty of stupid Americans that refused to follow modern medicine.
People failed to use their thinking caps which sabotaged our recovery efforts.
Capitalism. The latest cost jump started with the phony "peak oil crisis". Never was a thing but it sure did excuse all sorts of cost increases and made us be accustomed to price increases without cause.
Gosh, I remember 35 Cent gas, hamburgers that were 25 cents the officers and getting paid 35 cents an hour to babysit two kids. Golly gee what happened. I also remember 10 plus percent mortgage rates to buy a house during Reagan.
too many of us lost loved ones.Don't get me started on this one I lost my Son 5 yrs ago to Covid-he was just 41 ,listening to 🦊 News, I'm concerned about this adjudicated Rapist purging our institutions putting his Loyalist in & he's almost done, it's a bloodless coup, WE can't let it happen,
Bought my first brand new car in 1988 for 8000 dollars and a 4 year loan. Now thats a down payment and 5 or 6 year loan. Things change inflation happens. The problem is the wages have not.
I believe the problem is that our country allows there to be such a high difference in pay between the bottom 1% and the top 1%. If only we could hold those higher up accountable and force better pay for their employees. It seems the top would rather lay off departments than take a pay cut.
I agree 100%. I worked for Enron and saw corporate greed first hand. Although when things were good we all got paid very well unlike today. In the end, they stabbed us all in the back as the ship sank.
It’s called Profits for the Rich … I just seen how big a disparity there was between wages for the common man and the profits for the rich … it’s huge … pay attention people !
As someone who worked in Walmart at the time. I will also add that ending 24 hour service was planned almost two years before the pandemic but we did actually do the change a few months earlier because of it.
It was even way better than that before bush took us into Iraq; the wage/price ratio was very good, gas was .79/gallon, everything was dirt cheap, then Halliburton and oil companies got control of everything, and prices skyrocketed.

The Democrats are the slightly lesser of the duopoly evils, but neither of them are a friend of working-class people.
They’ve failed us and we need to fight back—and it’s probably going to mean a revolution.
Noam Chomsky, Barbara Ehrenreich, Chris Hedges, Sheldon Wolin, etc.
Both parties have failed us; don’t let them win your vote with the cultural war distractions.
Arguably, all of those are bad—including the cheap gas.
Walmart underpays and mistreats workers. It needs to be unionized.
Cheap fast food is junk food. It’s actually cheaper, albeit less convenient, to eat healthy.
Cheap gas means we’re still overproducing fossil fuels instead of switching to renewable energy sources.
We need to take them down and take the power back.
Join a movement such as Workers Strike Back and Revolutionary Workers.
Neither duopoly party is our friend.
Read this article by Kshama Sawant:
When those disruptions stopped being such a factor, corporations didn't lower their prices because they already knew we'd pay the higher prices.

Again, it took a Dem to build back
The pandemic was a life altering, generation altering event. COVID will be part of our lives forever.
He let 1 Million people die due to his ineptitude.
If Clinton were in office, the economy would have tanked when it hit. It tanked in Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, etc.
No dodging it.
Biden built it back...but had a Dem been in office when it hit, the economy would have still gone down.

🤣🤣😂🤣
You don't have 24 hour Walmarts anymore because too many people thought buying it from Lord Bezos was cooler. That well precedes the pandemic.
