Hmm, are we talking about a POV character? If so I would think they are one of your MCs? I love unreliable narrators (hello, Eleanor Oliphant!) and while they may have hidden agendas, and hidden emotions, there has to be some “in” to their world, some emotion/desire that we can relate to.
