Correct. They have ITINs ( Individual Taxpayer ID numbers to pay in to SS), BUT the ITIN does NOT qualify for Social Security payments.

That’s a good question. Employees have to verify every employees SS# with government agencies upon hiring. Some undocumented immigrants do have fake papers. And it seems some are hired anyway. So it’s a breakdown in the system, maybe by employers. Do they collect it at retirement? I doubt it.🤷🏻‍♀️

They don't get Social Security, but they DO pay into it when they work most of the jobs they do, here in the United States. So, actually, most pay into Social Security when they work, but don't get anything in return like the legal citizens do if they end up disabled or are seniors.
