It reminds me of how a game dev made a really cool vn idea and has been harassed by people who hate "gimmick vns" and how they are the destruction of eastern culture or something because they included jokes in the game description

Even when the dev clarified they'd a fan of vns and this isn't meant as a game to make fun of them (anyone who reads them can recognize this) that didn't stop those people from harassing them when they never touched a vn in year

i really don't think it's okay to accept a culture that elevates people like asmongold and grummz as important and consequential figures with lots of attention on them while people trying to push culture in new directions are ultra precarious and just say that there's nothing we can do about it

there is a greater problem here that goes beyond individual people's games not selling well or losing their jobs. we have to think about what space we want to exist in. there's way too much of a laissez faire attitude when it comes to misinformation and throwing developers and critics to the wolves
