That article sounds like an excuse, sorry to say.
Think if those acres of land were built up into even just cheap 2/3 storey flats, it would make a world of difference.
That being said, if the details are as per Dan Neidle’s thread posted elsewhere in these comments then this seems a pretty sensible tax position that I’m happy with.
To gain fully it requires you to be happily married,not divorced, or even happily single like me.
It requires your chosen relative to be in a stable relationship or happily single to proceed.
A lot of ifs for it to work and just as many to make it not.
That said reform is needed.
