What I've noticed is, there doesn't seem to be a full fledged usage of the custom feed algorithm yet.
Idea: Create AI agents that sit on top of your feed, and creates custom feed algo for you, specially.
This will take load off the bsky moderation team. Would you be interested?

"We're trying to go above what the legal requirements are" is a dangerous thing.
The law is made by officials elected through democratic voting. If you don't like the law, democratically elect new officials. Anything else is just another form of authoratarianism. Twitter 1.0 is being reborn here...
I wonder what they'll do about VPNs. Because many 'edgelord' trolls will utilize VPNs to circumvent blocks on their IP addresses. But people in places with authoritarian governments also use VPNs to circumvent blocks placed by their government on ideas considered disloyal to govt.
This is a good thing I think. Will be watching closely how they moderate around Palestinian solidarity content. This is the true test in my book on if this site will uphold freedom of expression or kowtow to the powers that be.
I wouldn't be opposed to ads if it's kept to a minimum. My FB has become nothing but ads and suggested posts from people I don't even follow. It's ridiculous.
Me as well! We have to be reasonable and understand how business works! Ad revenues are the biggest source of being able to survive for a business model like Blue Sky.
A very good sign! Means it’s moving forward. 2 questions: what is the right amount of moderation? And 2) how will Blsky moderate other languages—esp some of world’s more obscure?
Looking forward to seeing how it wrestles with these!
I hope they have a better vetting process than Donold and our own military intelligence teams
Funny how 2 of the guys from the service are doing time for THEIR distribution of classified documents but the biggest traitor of all is now the president.
This further begs the question: what is their path to solvency? Investors expect returns, and if we’re not paying (or even if we are, as enshittification goes these days), we’re the product.
Personally, I’d rather pay a little to ensure no enshittification. I support my mastodon instance currently.
feels like a red flag but hopefully it'll just lead to swifter adjudication for threats, doxxing, etc. Though I worry about why they need to *quadruple* staffing in the first place if the crux of platform moderation is that individual users have more tools to control what they do/don't see
Also, we need a system to kick out those trolls, like the system will disable the troll’s account when the rate of OPs blocking the account is over 40% of all replies...or something..
This is a major mistake in focus. Mission drift.
First orders of business should be
1. solid gold verification 2. subscription mechanism.
Moderation in accordance with varying regulations and laws will never catch up with viral disinfo.
Fostering authenticity of content by implementing a trustworthy, private verification workflow is more important than hiring an army of contractors to label one post at a time.
Use subscription revenue from grateful users to fund it.
Great news and thank you @jay.bsky.team !
The PRIMARY feature that makes this place different will be good moderation. Keep the groypers out, the nazis, racists, and other extremists. They can practice "free speech" elsewhere.
A successful level is 1 moderator for every 1 user, this way it is both personal and a great help to the community. The best moderators, of course, are Blue Sky Elders, who must be provided a stipend to monitor their user.
Meh. They’re labor. People do all kinds of things for money. The politics of my employer bother me, but I’m not responsible for them. And, I wish principles made mortgage payments and car payments and light payments and school fees and doctors bills, but they don’t and California is expensive.
Good. There's a crazy stalker/doxxer/impersonator who I reported probably more than a week ago repeatedly and they haven't done anything yet, because I'm sure they're swamped. And I see some folks report others simply because they disagree with them, which prevents action on serious issues.
There's talk of subscriptions, with benefits like longer videos, higher quality image uploading etc. Not averse to that either as long as the "Free" version stays as it is now without any quality or performance degradation.
Honestly, everything Musk has done, do the other thing. I'm certainly no expert, but good verification should be the first step. Then move to getting rid of misinformation and disinformation.
I would be fine with a subscription or pay fee, at least, that's as long as Trump doesn't take away VA benefits and disability benefits. That happens and paying for bsky will be the least of my worries.
Hope this include some taskforce here for Brazil. There are several cultural aspects versus law regulations must be follow accurately, once userbase are growing faster than any other.
This is exactly the right move. Moderation and some feature development will be critical to continued growth AND the development of a safe community. Y'all keep planning and executing and just let me know when I need to start paying a few bucks for an ad-free safe social platform! Take my money!
Where is the team based? Musk has talked about coming after content moderation as part of his twisted pursuit of what he calls free speech. So if the team is us based it could be under threat

Where do I apply?
It's so nice here!
There are more morally defensible lines of work to be in if you need the cash, like porn or drugs.
Or you know, form a union.
