I'd read about Pogonia orchids on a flower blog I've enjoyed perusing in the past, but I NEVER expected to actually stumble across one through sheer blind luck. I couldn't have asked for a better way to cap off a day this good; I was shaking with excitement as I ran up to take its picture.

At any rate, though, that's all for the trip report. I can't express just how amazing an experience it was... definitely an all-timer for the whole year, and I'm also personally delighted that I was able to hold up to the exercise. I'm hardly sore at all, even!
