100%. The burnout caused by seeing so many student needs going unmet, the resulting behaviour and safety concerns, classroom evacuations, and developmental trauma are all taking a huge toll on educator and education worker mental and physical health.

As they should. After 2 years of exceptional technical secondment I was told that I was getting re-inserted back into 6 Englishes (a subject I haven't taught in over a decade) - at the same time boards are saying they can't find tech teachers.
I was told, 'if you don't like it, leave.' So I will.

Teachers have exceptional skillsets in high demand across all industries. It's not our job to keep a system afloat that people in Ontario can't even be bothered to get out and vote for.

You'll be surprised what's out there. Go look. Your education background makes you valuable (just not in OntEd).

I’m so glad that you’re finding a path that will make good use of your skills and talents. I had many amazing colleagues who left teaching over the past few years for rewarding non-teaching careers with private companies and non-profit organizations. They are all much happier and healthier now.
