I still do all of those things (except patio dining because eating outdoors is still very risky). People are still being killed and disabled by COVID-19, that doesn't stop happening just because the media and governments decided to stop talking about it.

We did the same as you. Kept a closed, more personal group to be sure no one ( like parents that lived alone) felt lonely. Remember the boom in camping? Lots of people reconnected with nature. Disconnecting can be good for the soul.

And I also remember the kindness of many who found a way to "connect" with people through windows, by putting images in their windows to cheer people by dropping off treats in driveways. The generosity of so many was heartwarming.

Maybe we need to remember those times to find our hearts.

I take a steroid medication that makes me ineligible for Paxlovid so I’m still very careful. I’m still grateful for delivery, curbside pickup, and masks.

I had covid last summer and tried to get into a study that would have given it to me, but the logistics (I'm on a rural island) and timing made it impossible. Otherwise I'm ineligible, as is almost everyone else. My spouse and I still mask anywhere indoors that is outside of our home and we use DIY air filter boxes #corsirosenthalbox. They are easy to make and in many cases outperform brand name HEPA filters.

I continue to do those things. In Alberta Covid is once again at high levels, hospitals are full and in the past 110 days 250 people have died from COVID. Hospitals aren’t safe-no masking. I wish the pandemic was over- it’s not. #covidisntover

My hat goes off to all those workers who helped get us through the worst of the pandemic death waves. The delivery people, servers, health professionals, teachers, and many others. When we needed to limit contacts to reduce infections and deaths, we got it done and saved lives. With their help.

I learned a lot about community and humanity in those darkest days. Certainly enough to be immune to the radical libertarian takes on social media. We did what was right, because we knew it was right, and the science backed us up. Not because we were imprisoned by government overlords.

I was so proud of my team and the way they stepped up to help. We went from full service lumberyards to curbside only overnight.

At the same time, I was so disappointed in 2% of the customers that demanded to be able to shop in person.

The great customers thankfully over shadowed the noise.

Some may recall I looked at data-modelled analyses of NPI's (targeted non-pharmaceutical interventions such as closing restaurants, masks, etc) and statistically significant impacts were estimated at the time. Those studies are still there but apparently ignored by critics of generic "lockdowns".

I remember celebrating my 10 YO niece's birthday by doing a friends & family drive-by, honking, waving, cheering, balloon-bobbing parade past her home ... and I remember the heroic doctors & nurses who worked so fucking hard & saved so many lives.

Well said. When I go grocery shopping, I often think about how we used to stand in line and have conversations with each other. Everyone was in the same boat, so we packed our patience and appreciated what we had. I miss that. Now, people barely look at or acknowledge each other.
