Anyone who votes right here can absolutely not say “I didn’t vote for this” after witnessing what’s going on in the US. They will need to own that this is who they are. Carney gives the traditionally progressive conservatives an out so if they don’t take it…

Already in #Alberta, TBA & #UCP are placing their people in agencies, boards, orgs at every level (municipal, school, police, provincial, federal, media, legal) to ensure they stay in power.

Too many people simply do not believe it can happen here, or do not believe Poilievre is like that (despite using all the same rhetoric, being endorsed by all the same people, and promises to override Canadians’ rights), or slurps up propaganda like “Trump endorsed Carney.” 🙃

I agree. The challenge in Canada, as in the US, is just how powerful the far right propaganda machine is. The Conservative Party has Rebel, True North, the Post Media empire, X and Meta (which won’t allow news on its platforms & weakened fact checking), plus the IDU helping push disinformation.

Yesterday when I said an almost identical thing the reply I got was "but we are not the US". I pointed out they have the same policies and same campaign and the same supporters. They just refuse to believe it could happen here.

I hope (believe) that you're right. The election results should show us more definitively where we are. Hopefully the Conservatives will be greatly diminished.
