I'm no expert but understand selection and training etc can be a filter which condenses 100's of years of experience into something which looks crude to the inexpert eye.

Temperament, attention span, attention to detail, ability to stay alert, teamwork, etc? They may be throwing real talent out!

I'm not an expert but SAS who commented on the Demenezes case said fitness is a key component to staying mentally functional during stress and physical activity.

Dumping trans men could lose critical capability!

I wonder if trans men find exercise gender affirming, and whether that, in addition to the fact that they are more likely to be looking for validation of their gender, could explain the difference in fitness.

We could say that for both sis and trans men. Trans women in the studies have all had far less muscle mass than sis men pre GAHT

Trans male servicemembers prior to testosterone therapy performed 43% fewer push-ups and ran 1.5 miles 15% slower than their male counterparts in the intial Roberts et al study 2020.

After commencing GAHT, there was progressive increase in push-ups and sit-ups performed and improvement in running times and by two years, trans men were no different to cisgender men.

In Chiccarelli’s 2022 expanded analysis, whilst sit ups achieved the level of cisgender men within 1 year, push-ups and run times took 3 years to reach that of cisgender men. By 4 years, trans men appeared to exceed the average performance of their cisgender male counterparts.
