Like mandatory sentencing for hate speech yesterday, his small target strategy means he embraces and runs with whatever wedging crap LNP serve up. Understandable that hostile MSM makes it very difficult but FFS
Hard agree! Juice media nail it with the choice being between shit and shit light. I was hoping for a hung parliament last time and hopefully we will get it this time
It’s all we’ve got left. Right at the moment it’s effectively the duopoly vs the Australian people (unless you’re a bigot, sadist, climate vandal, Zionist or all 4)
Hoping we get a hung parliament with independent (teal/climate 2000 types) balance of power; esp with duopoly conspiring on election/donation funding to lock them out from 2026. Looking more likely this time around, but slight dread the growing dark forces will nudge Dutton over the line
So random bloke takes a cheap shot- Rusteds! Block or engage? From quick profile scan he appears legit, despite showing an inclination to hasty/smug character assessment. Also conscious that the RWNJs love the woke squabbling amongst themselves, splitting hairs about relative ideological purity. 1/
So recall Morrison's stage 3 tax cuts; an outrageous funnelling of $ to the wealthy. Morrison knows with partisan media backing him (including knobbled ABC) it would contribute to sucking the oxygen from media reporting if Albo knocked it back, but put off Labor voters if he committed to it.
Albo enthusiastically and unwaveringly backed the tax cuts. The repeated attempts by media to gotcha him and accuse him of planning a backflip didn't have the momentum of a rejection, and it was one of many areas where Albo's small target strategy helped Labor win the election.
Had he at all wavered or lost solidarity across Labor on this and other wedge issues, it is all we would have heard about. If you doubt this, I refer you to to 2019 and bogus retirement tax ETC!...with MSM having only further degenerated with their biased, horse race, conflict focussed stenography.
Thankfully (sort of) with cost of living/inequality crisis hitting home Albo and co were able to sniff the breeze and scrap a tax policy they knew was a shocker, without losing too much skin.

It's one of the reasons I'm no longer rusted.
