I downloaded it. I will work around in it. Im thinking discord. Doesn't signal use phone numbers? Is it easy for everyone to figure out? I need to work on it i suppose.

Discord is not *terrible*, but it is also not secure if any conversations may involve sensitive subjects, such as personally identifiable information or private details.

They recently set it up to use aliases as well, so it is not required to share a phone number publicly.

The reason so many say "signal" is that it's end to end encrypted. Yes, it uses phone numbers, so that meta data is there. Discord is not end to end encrypted, meaning a malicious actor might be able to see everything. For say a state actor, this is trivial. Just don't use discord, please.

Search for _someone's adversary_ brought down by discord logs. Signal allows you to make messages disappear...for real. They are encrypted from one device to another. Yes, the phone number thing is an issue for some. Good search terms: opsec signal protestor. It's not just the now message...

I'd consider a mixed strategy, then... Something like discord for less sensitive, more public information, and Signal for more private and/or planning purposes.

The thing I'll say about this, is you need to take a long hard look at what "public facing" truly means, and what info should be "public facing". Again my advice is go read about OPSEC from folks who have done all of this before, particularly noting those who have done it in adversarial environments

Alternatively, if you have a web host somewhere, you can use forums for public/semi-public stuff and even the private stuff -- just locking down the forums you want to be hidden from public view.

The only downside is it's note quite real-time.
