Israel’s responsibility vaguely mentioned once in paragraph 9. Note when NYT does put a human face to the horrors of Gaza it’s written like a natural disaster story. No mention of Israeli officials’ genocidal statements. It’s just an earthquake with no author or moral agent responsible for anything.

Readers are given the sense it was a two sided “war” with civilians caught in the middle. its all sad but no one in Israel or the US is to blame
