I think this is probably something many can relate to but I grew up devouring books & then in the last several years I just couldn’t finish a physical book for the life of me! while i think I don’t need to have judgement towards myself for that, it is something I miss and a skill I want to rebuild - ThreadSky

That's so relatable. And leaning into one's interests is the way to go... Last physical book I read in full was Beyond the Story (sobs). It's all about finding motivation.

I’ve had the same problem. I read a whole book about a month ago for a book group. We don’t meet regularly tho. Scrolling def a bad habit that has replaced a lot of my reading.

Same. Too much quality ff for me. But also I find that they really need to grab me early or I get distracted. I'm also guilty of a lot of re-reads because I enjoy knowing what's going to happen. Audio books are sometimes a good way to get back into reading. I've enjoyed some of those recently.

So much same! That’s why i think reading the memoirs by musicians has been what’s worked because it’s not original fiction and I’m already invested in these people … sort of like fic in that sense

Late last year I got a copy of Kathleen Hanna’s memoir and ended up reading it in a couple of days. Which was so fun and honestly thrilling. It helped that her chapters were very short and the subject matter super interesting to me.

So this sort of awakened in me the idea to continue reading books written by women musicians as a way to stay engaged with reading books. And as of now I’ve read 4 more (technically 3, and am on my 4th) since the beginning of the year!

That’s very cool! I can really relate, I also feel like my book reading has dropped waaaaay down, and now mostly goes in spurts. But I went to the library today & took out two books & I’m going to experiment with reading books before 😴
