Most people my age have grown up with the (arguable) notion that we weren't going to get it largely because the right-wing disinformation campaign has been in high gear for two generations, so it's barely an issue for us. We kind of came to accept that we were paying into a system with no ROI.

But our parents, the boomers, the last generation to really be banking on social security, were a sort of sacred cow for most of my lifetime: a disproportionately large and influential voting block. Aren't they angry? Well, who cares? This is when they start dying off en masse.

In another 5 years, boomers won't matter -not the way they used to. So if they're mad about eating cat food, well, tough tit - the fash right got what they needed from them by pushing their ignorance, fear, and paranoia. The rest of us will be too busy workign three jobs* to help or care.
