Anytime you mentioned about selling art there’s a 99% a impersonation accounts made seconds later
It happened to me and they went about it the same way, right down to a discord that didn’t have anything to do with the account
Same thing happened to me, same person as well. Everyone be careful out there and make sure you thoroughly check who you are commissioning. Sucks that this keeps happening.
This seems like another form of identity theft. Yeah I hope they're caught, but mostly, I hope a system is implemented to stop this in the first place.
I reported them, how do you even find out about these ppl anyway, I feel like platforms should protect artist better. My friend @scoobtoobins.bsky.social once got her account hacked on fb and idk if she ever got it back.
This is 100% not me. Haha I found the girl whose image they stole as well. She said her image is on so many accounts it's insane. And they don't do anything about it FB is useless.
My brother has his account hacked on FB and they verified it with a fake ID and there's no way to report that, and on a tshirt seling site someone uploaded my art and took down my listing somehow and when I tried to report it they didn't take it down. Really wish reporting worked better on sites
Reported them. Hope that impersonator gets obliterated
Scam's like this are evil; impersonating artists to steal money from people is sickeningly devoid of morality. I sincerely hope nobody's fallen for that fraud.
It seems this happens whenever people post that they're taking c0/mms; someone immediately snatches the closest username and hits up people's replies/DMs claiming to be them. it's a big problem.
the best way to protect yourself from that on bluesky is to register a recognizable domain name somewhere, and then use it as your handle here. if you already have a website, you can use that domain, but if not, they're a very cheap yearly expense, and very, VERY hard to impersonate.

Thankfully Bluesky tends to be pretty quick on these. Seen other such cases taken down fairly quick, trick is getting them reported enough to help.
