I'm a Ubisoft guy, so "serious"(??!?) game dev, and I really think iteration time is one of the most important and underestimated factor for coding. It lets you explore, invent, and find new things. And in a more engaging way.

On source control, I think committing a stream of compiling code is an interesting pattern which allows to automatically creating timeline-compliant "scenes"

About the IDE that always compile, while the goal might be the challenge, I love the idea of having this but with a pre-check for errors, so that you can still have successful bytecode but unpredictable results

I thought about making Bonzomatic have compile-on-type, but my concern was that it'll be really easy to hit some sort of driver issue causing a crash or low framerate :/

Very true! I was actually just talking about bonzomatic yesterday to Karl sims, he was showing me some gfx demos that use fft for sound and bonzomatic is my number one fav for the integrated sound fft (I tired using it in a comp one time but the comp computer had no mic on it 😭 & I didn’t realize)

The fact that I spent an afternoon messing around plugging a few opensource libraries together to create something that now gets shown to Karl Sims is honestly WILD 🤯

(Also you should be able to use the loopback device if you don't have a mic.)
