Blue Cross Blue Shield in Connecticut, New York and Missouri has declared it will no longer pay for anesthesia for the full length of some surgeries.
It the procedure goes over a certain time, anesthesia will not be covered for the duration.

Even if you limit it 60 minutes (4 time units), anesthesiologists are still getting hundreds more per service performed when compared to medicare.
This just shows that the fake "left" does not care about health care costs.

Seriously though, I hope to see MO added to this in short order. This was just an asinine and cruel thing for Anthem to try.
The internet says conversion factor for one unit of anesthesia (commercial) is $70. This would have limited an anesthesiologist to just $280 in time units (they also get base units).
Docs would have still charged much more than $20/unit medicare pays for same service.
What in the unholy FUCK are you talking about. (That's rhetorical, don't answer. Just let me laugh at you in peace.)
The insurer was limiting payments to about $280 in time plus whatever the base is. It would still be like $750 per patient with the cap while medicare would pay like $300 for the same service.
But that will never stop you from having an opinion because you are an American.
