People have forgotten that anti is short for anti-shipping (Because I guess it doesn't sound as good when you call it what it is)
"Proshippers" as terminology literally appeared as a countermovement. If you have an anti- you have a pro-. That shouldn't be hard to understand.
Thank you for posting this! I wasn't told about this until now.
Btw, is there a more accurate term we can use for people who ship illegal/problematic pairings? I wanna use it so we can spread the term and have it be the norm eventually.
there’s no need for a term for illegal/problematic ships because any ship can be problematic and the term would be weaponized the same way “proship” has been to refer to any fiction someone dislikes. I recommend blocking ppl on a case by case basis
I mainly meant for illegal ships that include incest and such. I do block them when I see them. I just wanted a term so I could have a proper dni in my bio in case someone ships that way and wants to follow or something./nm
Well, damn. I was hoping it meant 'professional shipper' and that I would one day be able to reach the heady heights of musing about my ships for money.
Yeah, i basically was always proship lean (but an anti in terms of worrying) but i definitely became more proship when i realized its literally just your stance on "do videogames cause violence"
2. If I have a dubcon kink, it doesn’t mean I EVER want that situation IRL for myself or others. Proship means if you don’t like that, block and/or move on, and I will do the same for your kinks and ships if I don’t like them.
3. There are no “illegal ships.” No one is going to IRL arrest Hannibal Lecter for eating people because he is a FICTIONAL character. Even if he is doing something that is illegal IRL.
4. Why are we not holding “illegal ships” to the same standard as violence on TV? How can you be okay with your friend liking slasher horror, but not okay with your friend shipping fictional siblings in the same setting where DRAGONS exist.
5. What if those siblings just have an interesting relationship that your friend just wants to explore out of canon and in a different relationship dynamic? People are allowed to make anything up outside of canon. It’s called fanfiction.
6. Proship is in a similar vein as, “Well I don’t want to see Tinkle having Ganondorf’s baby, but you do you, boo.” Kinks are creative and weird and sometimes just make no sense — even to the people that have them.
The only kind of ships I find to be truely problamatic is when people try and ship real life people, esp if they start harrasing said people to go togeter like theyre the boss… people decide for themself who they go with not u so ya

No need to call for the legality of fictional things
Like shipping an adult with a child.
This isn't to say I go harassing people based on my opinion.
If I see something I personally feel is "problematic," I block/ignore and move on.
It goes both ways. People shouldn't be harassed for NOT liking certain themes either.
