I got the measles in 1962, the year before the vaccine came out.

I had them and survived, BUT I have a hole in my retina AND all of the adult teeth that were developing were killed at the stage so I just have shells (now all crowned). I ran 104-106 temp for 3 days and was kept in ice baths for most of that time. Luckily I lived.

My great-aunt had them at about age 10. She lived, but the high fever caused brain damage to the point that she had to be institutionalized because no one at home (on a farm) could handle her temper tantrums that came and went.
