it's just crazy that Z-A will be $60 for switch 1, $70 for switch 2. You are taxing individuals that already invested in your new, more expensive, hardware.

But the answer is always that they do it because people will pay.

Or you can buy the switch 1 version and choose not to buy the $10 upgrade.
