Is it really enough to focus on a confirmation hearing while Musk is illegally shutting down payments? Direct action by Democratic senators is one of our only hopes to stop him, and I'm concerned that every day we let go by normalizes this coup.

Yes, because right now everything they’re doing is illegal because there’s no Senate-confirmed leader OR legally authorized people undertaking the actions at OMB. Once that person is in place, for actions led by Vought, they will be within the law by definition (arguably).
I see mentions of the Treasury stuff in the presentation but it feels like a tacked on afterthought. I know it’s all a five alarm fire but the main ask should be to stop him! If “deleting” payments is a thing, it’s all over.
It's not a thing. My understanding of systems is they are backed up frequently to off site secure back up locations. You can run restore programs. It will not include the last updates, but the data still exists.
More plans on Treasury are taking shape. Stuff is going to evolve quickly this week—and also, stopping Vought is something that needs to happen as we continue to build public pressure.
