Today a 6’4 man told me that at night he takes taxis home because he’s scared of walking home alone… who could be possibly be afraid of if it isn’t of another man? And yet men are outraged that women choose the bear…

If I was a woman, I’d choose the bear too. I hike and mountain bike lots and try my best to not be creepy, give a quick and move along quickly when I see women on the trail - especially if alone. I totally get it.
I’m 5’8” but never get attacked and never afraid. It’s that lack of fear and clarity of purpose that defeats predators. The reason for this is that predators prey on the vulnerable and on fear. You can see this in body language. Lack of eye contact. Eyes to the ground. Leaning forward and hunched.
