-bullying of countless emulator devs (MAME, DuckStation, Redream, etc) including byuu
-misappropriating donations meant for developing cores, with that money spent on unrelated things

I didn't know about any of this. I use Retroarch for a lot of emulation. Not anymore! Uninstalling it all immediately.

i only wish that there was an alternative reasonable and user friendly enough for me to use or if it was easier to avoid. OpenEmu was such a godsend on Mac and i have no idea how it never made it to other platforms, though afaik it's also based on LibRetro cores :/

I try to lend a helping had with people new to emulation, and my first piece of advice is always "ditch Retroarch".

Putting aside the ethical side, why would you introduce a whole new layer of confusion onto a simple process?

It's like coating a sponge cake with a tin of raw baked beans.

is there some other alternative that's equally as easy to use? we've never given this person a dime and plan to keep it that way especially now... if anything we're costing them money by using it... but we'd be happy to know if there's better solutions
