I never related to anyone in media more than Will Smith’s character in regards to AI and technology. I remember saying on my first viewing, “Oh so they just brought slavery back, awesome.” 🫠
Not to mention the characters, acting and dialogue and world-building—okay I’ll stop.
No I won’t, I lied. Alan Tudyk was incredible in this, I was able to tolerate Shia before I found out he’s a piece of shit, Bridget Moynahan was killing it, it perfectly fleshed out both human and robot characters, I wanna live in that world so badly without the fucking SLAVERY—okay I’m done ❤️
Almost Human (2013; Fox you will crumble) is another good one. It was a series. It only had one season, but it touched on a lot of ethical questions where AI was concerned.
Strong TW for the sexbot episode if you get to it.
It was a great show and it even did well! Easily one of the two best short-lived TV shows about a human cop with a robot partner. It was just too danged expensive. Even “successful” wasn’t successful enough. It needed to be one of the top shows on television to make any money whatsoever.
Hell, Mondays were so good back then- Almost Human AND Sleepy Hollow? By then end of that season, Almost Human was yoinked & they fucked up Sleepy Hollow in season 2.
I think that was the start of me getting away from watching FOX...I only watched a few episodes of Empire and I was like "I'm out"
I have not watched any shows on FOX really since then; I think I got to a place where I checked out on main network TV...I only watched AMC and FX for a long time.
Honestly if it’s one to two Black people present, they’re going to fuck up the show. They can’t help it. Too racist to function. And both shows qualified.

One nice touch was how Michael Ealy's android character referred to Karl Urban as, "Man." Clever!
