@startribune.com Can someone explain why this caption was included in an article that had ZERO to do with bike infrastructure cost, taxes, etc? The article is about ranking bikeability. Is Carol B now writing copy for you?

We’ll get that changed. What happened is the photo had that caption attached from a previous article it was used for, and we forgot to change the caption to reflect its use as a file photo on this new article.
What would be REALLY COOL is if the article talked about how we could top the list again with bike infrastructure that’s not just painted lines (hmm, Hennepin bridge, Portland Ave, Central Ave, etc).
I did a bike tour through Minnesota a couple years ago. I paid nothing for the trails, lanes and various pathways -- but I did spend a lot on food, lodging. Doing 50 miles a day more or less, I spread my Michigander's money around.
Captions are often embedded in photos' metadata. So if the template for the page is set up to automatically fill in the "caption" from the metadata and nobody checks it or changes it, it will just run the embedded data.
I thought that was weird too, and also very familiar. Turns out they used the same photo and almost exact same caption in an opinion piece about how birders, hikers, and cyclists should pay more to be outdoors. The updated one at least adds "directly" I guess....
