I made a comment on YouTube but I’m amazed you didn’t mention that Botticelli got radicalized by Savonarola and agreed to bonfire many of his own works.
Botticelli kind of peaked early and while he did follow Savonarola and his paintings became a lot more conventional afterwards, this was also apparently due to him being somewhat past his prime. He did continue painting though (some stories claim erroneously that he stopped at Savonarola’s urging).
